Telling the DEI Story at Lenovo

At Lenovo, our global corporate communications team got a new direction in 2016. We began to align our team away from traditional internal/external communications roles, and structure ourselves into working groups that focused on the themes that reputation measurement told us were important – DEI/workplace, citizenship, performance and innovation. I had the opportunity to lead the DEI team where we built out a 360 communications plan that incorporated events, executive communications, internal communications, media relations, social media, and pioneering the company’s first DEI report – Connected People Change the World.

In my support of the Chief Diversity Officer, Yolanda Conyers, I raised her profile through tactics including:
- Regular LinkedIn articles (organic and paid) on topics in her “swim lane” in coordination with communications for other executives
- Blogs (Medium)
- Award nominations and promotions
- Speaking at the Atlantic Inclusion in the Workplace event in NYC
- Media training and media pitching (Forbes, Austin Woman Magazine, Executive Women Media, HuffPo)
- Co-sponsored research with Intel
I also supported the Chief Marketing Officer Gina Qiao and Chief Information Officer Art Hu. Here are a few samples of coverage and content.
